Philothea Missionary Sisters - PMS

Philothea missionary Sisters are called to an “active missionary apostolate” of formation and education of Christ’s Faithful. Inspired by the writings and teachings of St. Francis de Sales under the guidance of our Founders (Rev. Fr. George Kocholickal and Rev. Sr. Florence Kabbalah), we strive to form and educate Christ faithful through our daily contemplative prayer life, formation programmes, education, Catechetical programmes, seminars, retreats for both adults and youth, vocation promotion, Marriage and Family Programmes, counselling, publications and any other service that meets the needs of Church in our times.

Our Charism

The special charism of the Philothea Missionary Sisters is an interior discipline expressed primarily through the practice of two virtues: “Love” and “Holiness” lived in gentleness. Our motto is “Love and love alone is the hallmark of our spirituality” – St. Francis de sales

To become a Philothea Missionary Sister

For one to be a Philothea Missionary Sister, she should have completed at least her Secondary School studies with a mean grade of C and above. She should have done at least a basic certificate course/training in any of the human development programmes such: Education, Catechetics, IT, Communications, Book-keeping, catering, counselling, dress-making etc. She is also required to present a letter of recommendation from her parish priest, medical certificate and a letter of permission from her parents. If the application is favourably considered by the Vocation Directress and the Mission Council then she will undertake various formations programmes in accordance with the directive of the Canon Law and the Constitution Philothea Missionary Sisters. There is a one week vocation camp or “come and see” for those who are in the process of Inquiry.

N/B: One can also join Philothea Missionary sisters from any other Philothea groups provided she meets the above requirements and her request approved by the Mission Council in liaison with formation Director and Spiritual Director.
